She Working?

Half time at the water polo match.

This past Saturday, the staff here at the hotel invited us to a game of water polo.  Honestly, I expected to be watching, not playing but I was wrong.  The managers invite long stay guests to these events and they are trying to get more things going instead of just cocktails and snacks.  I have no idea why they would want to do that, but whatever.  Jason had to work, but I went down to watch the game only to realize our group were the only ones there.  After about 20 minutes of begging, we gave in and changed into swimsuits.  One of the managers said the prize to one participant was a free hour long massage of our choice.  As far as we know, no one "won" the massage.  We knew all but one of the guys and I doubt they gave it to him.  I mean, come on....  the best recipient of that would have been me, of course.

It was still a fun game, but my arms were sore the next day from the heavy water polo ball.  I've even been working out and lifting (light, of course) weights.  Maybe I need to up the weight on those and challenge them to a rematch, although my team won anyway.

Just when we think the guys only wear their nomex, jeans or tshirts!  They do actually dress up once in awhile.  This provided ample opportunity to get a picture as well.  Last night the guys were invited to a Christmas dinner provided by BPCL, the refinery they are working at.  No other wives were there and I knew this before going, but what else would I have done?  Sat in the room by myself while the guys are having a nice and free Indian dinner and drinks at the LeMeridian hotel?  I think not.  It was bit awkward at first, especially when one of the guys that is in charge at BPCL looked at Jason, but nodded my way, and said "Is she working?".  I answered him, but he still didn't really look at me.  I know he didn't mean anything by it, but I just had to laugh.  It's like I'm Jasons property.

It was nice to meet some of the guys that Jason and the crew work with everyday.  One of them invited us to Sunday mass with his family and many of them wanted to know what I did while Jason worked.  Once I told them about volunteering, they had lots of questions and would even bring it back up if someone new came by to talk.  It was a nice change from sitting in the silence at a table full of guys talking gibberish about oil.

But anyway... "She working?"
