I have some unpleasant news to share with you today. Today, while walking to lunch, I got spit on. Yes... I got SPIT on. ABSOLUTELY. DISGUSTING. We (there were four of us) left the hotel for lunch and were just walking down the street when this guy started approaching us. I didn't think anything of it because he was just trying to squeeze past us and another person on the other side of the walkway. Evidently, he didn't like me, because he spit in my face. How nice of him. I kind of put my elbow up to get him away from me, but it all happened so fast. He them proceeded to walk a bit, turn around and yell at us. We have no idea what he was saying and it didn't even sound Spanish. We think he was mentally ill...seriously. I thought that before he even spit in my face... however, now I'm certain of it. WHO DOES THAT? All four of us just stood there because we had no idea what to do. I felt like hitting him (my emotions got the best of me) but if he would have a knife or a gun, it wouldn't have been a good idea. Also while walking around, we got whistled at a few times (that happens randomly to any foreign girl around here) and also they do this kissing sound and act like they are blowing you a kiss. So not only did I get spit on, we also got kisses blown at us. (not by the same guy..) Make up your mind, Chile. Either hate us or love us.
I wanted to go back to the hotel and wash up, but he was walking that way and I didn't want him to think I was following him or even see what hotel we were staying at so I rubbed my face with hand sanitizer and continued onto lunch. (immediately, I wasn't hungry anymore...but by the time we walked and got food, I was okay) I don't care if my face is dry or even broken out from using that. I needed to cleanse myself from his scum.
Of course, the first thing I did when I got back was wash my face about three times. My mom says my face should be clean now and I don't need to wash it again. That has never happened to me before and it really upset me. I'm calm now, but it's still disturbing. Good thing it wasn't like a big spit...more of just a spray..but either way, EEWWWW. Just typing this makes me want to go wash my face again. Oh, the joys of traveling.
On a happier note, while walking back today, we had a small canine companion. There are lots of dogs here that just roam but none of them look hungry. Some stores leave a bowl of food out for all the strays. They are all friendly and will just come up behind you and put their nose on your hand while you are walking. The first time that happened, I jumped - not knowing what it was. They are just being friendly and want a companion. A few have followed us back to the hotel : ( Today, the same one that has followed us back two times now, found us again. Shannon had a sandwich and fed it some, but apparently it didn't like tomatoes. He's such a cute little dog with a spot on it's tail. That's how I know it's the same one that follows us.
Let's hope I have better news to share in the next few days.

Oh no! That's disgusting! I'm sorry you had to deal with that! Next time just go ahead and punch him. He deserves it!
I would have kicked him (only because I can't punch hard! LOL). And only because it was a group of you...so I'm tough and a big chicken at the same time. :D
sorry that happened to you. I had someone do that to me also--but it was in the states. He got hit (hence why I know know my punch doesn't do much LOL)
