Fresh Catch and Special Tea

Swapnil helping us pick our fish

You get two blog posts about Saturday since we did so much.... feel special.  After the temple, we meet up with some of the other workers here and took the ferry over to Fort Kochi for a fresh seafood dinner.  Once we were there, we also meet up with two girls, Denise and Justine, that are working at Raksha in the therapy department.

By the Chinese fishing nets, there are numerous stalls set up selling fresh fish - well, not all of it is fresh but most of the smaller fish are.  Swapnil helped us pick out some mighty fine red snapper, crab and other fish that I have no clue what it was, but he insisted was good!  After buying our fish, we took it to a restaurant where they prepared it however we wanted.  We knew places did this, but we hadn't actually done it yet so it was a cool experience.  I tried to do this with Eric when he was here, but he insisted that he knew what fish looked like and he didn't have to pick it out himself.  Ugh, Boys!

This guy insisted on me taking his picture with the octopus (which was pretty cool though).

I'll take this one.         Right Now.

Mission Complete - Swapnil and Endanna with our fresh fish

We get to this restaurant and tell the cooks how we want the fish and crab prepared and order some beer to go along with our tasty seafood.  We notice it's taking awhile and wonder what is going on.  Apparently this restaurant didn't have the correct permits to serve alcohol and eventually one of the waiters brings a large bag filled with beer bottles up by our table.  He opens the beer and starts pouring it in tea pots.  Obviously, I get out my camera as I have never seen this happen before and they start posing and saying "Special Tea, Special Tea!"  They were trying to be undercover, I suppose.  Other people around us had tea pots too and one guy just had a soda in front of him but would randomly pull a bottle out from behind a wall and pour it into his soda.  How illegal is that?  Ahh... Only in India can you get away with this.

They were proud of their special tea.
