Say Cheese

Kat and Safa

Ijo and Mustafa - he's always trying to get out of his chair (he's tied to the chair in this photo)

At Raksha, they do what they can with the little funding they have.  Notice the chairs they government gave them for the younger kids.  For some of the children, those are sufficient, but not all.  Ijo can't keep his head straight up for very long, so they put pillows on the side to keep him from leaning too far.  Some of the kids like to attempt to get out of the chair so they tie a scarf around their waist and behind the chair.  I'm not sure I agree with it, but it's not hurting the children and they don't have the resources we do in the US.

I tied elderly down to wheelchairs and chairs in nursing homes....we had the money but there really isn't a good solution to keep people in chairs that can't physically do it themselves. And we also used pillows/wedges/egg crates to prop up....someone really needs to come up with better idea.
I felt odd about it also...till I saw the injuries that occur when they aren't strapped in....and thats way worse!
SO wonderful you guys are doing that! <3
