| Walking down the cliff side to the beach |
Saturday we woke up bright and early to the sound of the waves and birds chirping. No sleeping in there :) We headed towards the North Cliff for breakfast and then planned on spending the rest of the afternoon there. The food at the breakfast placed we stopped at wasn't the greatest...but being so close to the beach made up for it, I suppose. We walked the rest of the way up the cliff and Denise, Justine and I did some shopping while Jason read his book at another restaurant. Eventually, we all made it the beach to enjoy the sun and sand. It was such a nice change from the beach we have been to a few times that is closer. In Varkala, it's more of a touristy area and therefore more relaxed. Everything had a "hippy, backpack traveler" feel. We could actually wear our swimsuits on the beach and we weren't approached by locals wanting to know our name or where we are from.

| I went to buy a beach blanket and ended up with this.... :) |
While we were walking back in the evening, the clouds started rolling in. We made it back to the hotel just in time for a downpour with thunder and lightening. We also had no power which made it interesting. We managed to get ready in the short time it was on, but it kept going on and off. Once we were all ready, a rickshaw driver came down to get us when most wouldn't due to the road not really being driveable. Since there were 6 of us, we had to wait for the guy to drop the first 3 off and come back to get the rest of us. It poured the entire time we were waiting but had stopped by the time we met the rest of the group at the restaurant. That's where I will end this blog..... you don't need to know how late we stayed out enjoying the night life. :)

Yeah that looks nice.... I miss the beach.
Looks awesome! I cannot stress enough how different that India looks from "my" India!
