Our First Cricket Match

Of course we had to buy the team shirts!  Lucky for us, they came with noise makers as well.

I can finally say that after all this time in India, we finally went to our first cricket match!  We've been talking to the managers frequently and had mentioned something about going to see a match and today we found out they found a few tickets for us so we went to cheer on the Kochi Tuskers against the Chennai (Chennai) Super Kings (super kings).  They have a catchy chant that repeated so that's the reason for the ( ).  I just couldn't help but chant along quietly. Just an added bonus that they were lounge tickets which included beer and food.  Have I mentioned before that we are staying at a wonderful hotel?  After an hour rain delay, Kochi prevailed to win the match!  We left just before they won in hopes of not getting stuck in the parking lot mess.  We figured it would be terrible...I mean, organized chaos in the US is bad, just imagine it in India.  We weren't so lucky...picture below.    

Or maybe they should have just kept the noise makers and not given them to Jason

The lounge

Those lights made it difficult to get a good picture of the stadium, but it's pretty big..holds 60,000 and is one of India's largest (or maybe the largest - I'd have to ask Jason again..)

What a mess...  absolutely NO organization to the cars.  You find a spot, you park.  It doesn't matter which way the car was facing, you could park wherever.  Downside to getting to the game early - we were in the very back.

After waiting a few minutes to see if any of the cars in front of us were moving (no one was going anywhere anytime soon), we decided to leave anyway.  We tipped the driver who waited for us and walked out to the street to catch a rickshaw back.  It was 1am and we already knew it would have been another hour of trying to get out of that parking lot hazard.  We made it back and it was worth getting overcharged slightly by the rickshaw driver.  What a night!
