Tuskers Vs Daredevils

Today we went to the afternoon match of the Kochi Tuskers.  Can you tell we've really gotten into cricket since being here?  It's easy to when the league only has 20 overs per team instead of the standard 50.  Unfortunately, they lost, but it was still a great time.  What I found very interesting is that even when the other team would get a wicket (very similar to an 'out' for our American friends) everyone would still cheer.  Of course, the cheers were always louder when it was better for Kochi, but overall, everyone just wanted to see a good match.  There were many players on the Delhi team who lead the India team to the World Cup so overall, it was friendly competition.

We got to enjoy the lounge and the match with some of the hotel staff who didn't have to work it - they were thrilled!  The stadium was only partially full (well pretty empty actually) because of the strike.  Apparently, they couldn't start selling tickets until today and they don't really advertise the games as much as they should.  The Kerala government is making it hard for the team and city to profit from the games.  Lots of restrictions and extra taxes because of course they want their cut from the money earned.

Anyway...pictures from the game:
