Uncertainity

Tea Lady was sick today so Kat and I didn't get our favorite lunch.  We decided to skip out early and have lunch at the mall.  We had to get some things from the store anyway so we decided that was the best option for lunch.  It's not as good as Tea Ladys, but probably better than whatever they would have ordered for us.  On our ride to and from the school, we pass over three toll bridges.  I'm not really sure who pays and who doesn't.  Whatever system they have done must work for them though.  Some taxis pay by the month or they can pay each individual time they cross the bridge.  I've never seen an motorbike stop to pay or a rickshaw.  Some big trucks stop, some don't.  Some buses stop (maybe just to get change... I haven't figured it out yet)  and some don't.  All that matters is, if the driver does not have the exact change for the toll out and ready to throw at the driver the second he pulls up to the toll, all the horns start blaring.  No one likes to be inconvenienced by the delay.  They simply have zero patience here.  While we were waiting at one today (usually the line goes fast - like I said, not everyone pays), I got a couple photos so you can compare it to the ones in the US.

I like how he wears a mask.  He probably needs it.
Our driver today attempted to play some music from the radio he had hooked up the rickshaw.  It didn't quite work out, but for a few seconds we got some Indian tunes.

This is how close cars get!  See the line... they ignore them!  Just honk and go around.  Now just imagine that happening with big buses or semis.  I've gotten used to it, but I will admit, it freaked me out at first.

At the store, we needed basic toiletries.  Nothing much, but when you don't know when you're leaving, you have no idea how much to buy.  See, I've bought a few things to take home (just a few..lol) so I don't plan to take any toiletries back with me.  It just makes for more space for all my goodies.  I've been buying the small bottles of shampoo, small bottles of conditioner, small bottles of body wash, small tubes of toothpastes....well, you get the point....  for at least 4 months now.  Each time I say to myself  "I'm sure this will last us!"  and each time so far, I've been wrong.  As I type this, I'm reminded of Caitlins blogpost about her using all 100 cotton balls.  The next day, she posted they were leaving.  That still doesn't help me figure out what size to buy.  I don't want to buy the big size.  Ahh...... the uncertainty of our life.

Maybe these will be enough...
